Siew Keong (SK) graduated with a Bachelors in Podiatric Medicine from The University of Western Australia in Perth, and was awarded a scholarship from Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Having spent 8 years in one of the world’s best hospitals, SK has worked with a diverse group of patients, ranging from young children, active athletes, working adults to the elderly. He is experienced in a wide range of podiatric conditions, ranging from advanced wound management, recurrent ingrown toenails to complex musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. SK also went on to obtain further training in areas such as joint mobilisation, dry needling and exercise prescription. Beyond Podiatry, SK also pursued a Masters in Business Administration to diversify his skillset.   Having a special interest in MSK conditions, SK was appointed to the MSK Specialist Team in 2015 and has worked closely with the Orthopaedics Department. SK was part of a multi-disciplinary clinic with Orthopaedics doctors and was the Podiatrist point-of-contact for post-operation patients. His work played an important role in supporting patients in their post-op recovery journey immediately after their foot and ankle procedures. His close collaboration with the Orthopaedic surgeons ensured his patients received timely care in the successful management of their feet conditions. Besides clinical work, SK was also a MSK clinical supervisor. He also started the MSK Case Discussion Club in SGH Podiatry Department and organised the SGH Podiatry Assistants Lower Limb Stretching and Strengthening Course.   SK’s touch of care is well felt by all his patients. His sincerity and genuine concern is acknowledged through the multiple SGH Allied Health Division Service Awards and Singhealth Service Quality Awards accorded in his consecutive years of service there. He is also the 1st Podiatrist in SGH Podiatry department’s long running history to win the SGH Heart of Gold award.   Beyond the clinic room, SK has also conducted foot care education and Podiatry awareness talks to various community groups and organisations, and has volunteered in multiple outreach programmes, such as World Diabetes Day, Sundown Marathon, Special Olympics 2019. He is also the current President of Podiatry Association (Singapore), and has served as a Treasurer from 2019 to 2021.

Lee Yinjie

Yinjie Physiotherapist

Yinjie graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic as the top student in 2004 and was awarded both the Ministry of Health Gold Medal (outstanding performance in the course of study) and the Singapore Physiotherapy Association Prize (best performance in clinical practice). She started her career in Singapore General Hospital while pursuing her degree with University of Sydney. Her clinical experience has exposed her to the different disciplines in physiotherapy.   Having worked in various settings, Yinjie has treated a wide spectrum of clients from the young to the elderly for musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, postoperative rehabilitation, geriatric and neurological conditions.   She was a national canoeist previously and whilst she no longer rows or competes, she believes in keeping herself fit and works out regularly.

Goh Xuan Kai

Xuan Kai graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2018 with a Diploma in Physiotherapy. He went on to obtain an Honours Degree for Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2019.   He started his physiotherapy career in a public hospital where he was part of the Orthopaedic team that helps and rehabilitates patients who have undergone common operations like Total Knee Replacements (TKR), Total Hip replacements (THR), Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and Spinal operations.   Xuan Kai strongly believes in helping his clients return to their daily lives by empowering them to be actively involved in their rehabilitation. He also has a strong interest in treating gym related injuries.   Outside of work, Xuan Kai enjoys working out and learning new skills. He enjoys the thrill of learning new skills and the satisfaction of mastering them. Because of his passion for learning, he constantly strives to improve himself and helps his patients overcome their challenges throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Teng Yu Yong

Teng Yu Yong graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2017 with a Diploma in Physiotherapy and completed his Bachelors of Science (Physiotherapy) from Trinity College of Dublin in 2018.   Yu Yong started his career as a physiotherapist in Sengkang General Hospital where he specialised mainly in treating musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. During his time there, Yu Yong also gained valuable experience by being part of the multidisciplinary team as the appointed team lead of the emergency department on-call physiotherapy team. He is also a certified Clinical Educator for physiotherapy students at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and a certified clinical supervisor in Physiotherapy by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).   Yu Yong strongly believes in patient empowerment – he aims to equip patients with the necessary skills and knowledge to help improve their lives and functions. In his work, Yu Yong’s focus is on helping patients with chronic pain by using an evidence-based holistic approach. He emphasises the importance of emotional recovery as much as physical recovery.   Outside of work, Yu Yong enjoys the serenity of gardening, fishkeeping and aquascaping. The calm that these hobbies bring to his days remind him that taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Tan Wei Ann Nicodemus

Nicodemus

Nicodemus graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physiotherapy (Hons) from Singapore institute of Technology. He began his career as a physiotherapist in an acute hospital, acquiring a wide range of clinical skills and experience in treating patients with musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiopulmonary conditions.   Professionally, Nicodemus is passionate about postoperative rehabilitation, especially in assisting patients in returning to sports. He strongly believes that an individualised mixture of manual therapy and active management is key to achieving positive outcomes.    Outside of work, Nicodemus partakes casually in a variety of sports such as bouldering, badminton and sailing. To relax, he enjoys chilling in cafes and spending time with his dog.

Lim Fang Yee

Lim Fang Yee graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2018 with a diploma in Physiotherapy and went on to obtain an Honors Degree for Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) from Trinity College of Dublin in 2018.   Fang Yee started his career as a physiotherapist in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he spent 8 years gaining valuable experience in multiple areas of physiotherapy, including musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, acute cardiopulmonary care at intensive care unit and neurological rehabilitation. Stemming from his interest in the human brain, Fang Yee took special interests in neurological rehabilitation, where he spent 4 years caring and helping his patients in the acute stroke unit and neurosurgical ward (literally) back on their feet. 8 years on, Fang Yee is now chasing his passion for movement back to the roots of musculoskeletal rehabilitation and pursuing his career here with Physio and Sole.   Fang Yee strongly believes in the role of exercise and movement, living by the motto of “Move to live, not live to move”. He remains passionate about the power of the human brain in driving recovery, as well as recognizing his role in empowering clients in active rehabilitation towards their journey to recovery.   In his free time, Fang Yee is an avid angler. He can often be found at dawn or dusk at his favourite fishing spots luring for his next personal best record.   He started off fishing at a local offshore trip during the start of the Covid pandemic. He got hooked immediately to fishing, and ventured further into local freshwater luring and shore casting. He is looking forward to a few upcoming overseas offshore trips as the borders open up.   Fang Yee enjoys tranquility during fishing, where despite the scorching sun and ever-buzzing mosquitoes, he is able to calm his mind into focusing on a single task.

Ponn Oly D/O S Visvalingam

Ponn Oly has been a licensed physiotherapist for more than 19 years. She received a Singapore General Hospital Scholarship and graduated with a Diploma in Physiotherapy from Nanyang Polytechnic, thereafter completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney. Having worked in Singapore General Hospital, it sparked her desire for helping people with musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. Hence, she went on to pursue her Masters in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy from University of South Australia. She has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research in Canada and had worked in the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre handling clinical research data. She is currently pursuing a Certificate in Data Analytics, Python, Machine learning and AI from the National University of Singapore to advance her understanding of analysing data. Driven by a deep desire to help those with spinal conditions, Ponn Oly started helping patients through scoliosis management upon returning to Singapore, having underwent rigorous training in ISST Schroth techniques in Edmonton, Canada. Unlike traditional approaches, the ISST Schroth method empowers individuals with scoliosis through personalised exercise programs. Ponn Oly recognizes the profound impact these exercises can wield in scoliotic posture and mitigating discomfort. Her attainment of ISST Schroth Level 1 certification underscores her unwavering dedication to helping scoliotic patients.  Ponn Oly is an avid mountain trekker. She used to be completely out at the Rocky Mountains camping with her family during summer and winter scaling all the tough trails in Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise and British Columbia. She also started learning downhill skiing and enjoys snow shoeing and cross-country skiing at the Rockies. Recently, she has started scaling the mountains in Mumbai and Pune. She loves travelling to experience different cultures and cuisines as she is a foodie. She frequently treks the hard trails as she enjoys the mental and physical challenges. On her rest days, she is always whipping up delicious Indian dishes and her best dish is Dum Briyani. Recently, she has picked up learning the Indian Martial Arts, Kalari from Kerala.

Joanne Yap

Joanne graduated from the University of Brighton with First Class Honours. She gained valuable clinical experience when working in both the community clinics and King’s College Hospital (London) within the National Health Service in UK. She is highly experienced in treating various soft tissue and toenail disorders that affect the feet, such as fungal nails, corns and calluses, ingrown toenails and warts.   She has had the privilege of working in multidisciplinary teams alongside vascular surgeons, endocrinologists and wound care nurses in the management of diabetic patients. She also had the opportunity to work with paediatric orthotists where she gained useful insights on treating paediatric cases using ankle foot orthoses and customised insoles.   Joanne’s area of clinical interest is podogeriatrics where she aims to promote healthy aging for the elderly and enhance their overall health and well-being. Being a Singaporean, she understands our aging population is a major concern and their health care needs has to be addressed in a holistic manner. She aims to do her part for the community by actively engaging patients and their families in providing advice for appropriate footwear, foot care and hygiene in order to prevent or manage feet issues.   Joanne enjoys trying out new hobbies in her free time, such as baking, learning a new language, or starting a new exercise regimen. She tries to have an active and healthy lifestyle, and she loves going for walks or hikes in the great outdoors. However, nothing beats having a rush of adrenaline and endorphins after a HIIT workout or a run for her!

Sing Pei Kheng Myra

Pei Kheng graduated with a First Class Honours in Bachelor of Science Podiatry from the University of Southampton in 2016, under a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Health.   When practicing at Changi General Hospital, she gained vast experience in treating all foot conditions, including ingrown toenails, warts and fungal nail infections. She was the primary podiatrist in the Wound Healing Centre, managing complex wounds (e.g. diabetic foot wounds) alongside a multidisciplinary team of Vascular Doctors and Wound Care Nurses.   At the Singapore Sports Medicine Centre (SSMC), she has managed various adult and youth sports injuries and grew her skillset in musculoskeletal podiatry. Her time at SSMC raised her interest in helping patients with running-related injuries and footwear science.   She continuously updates herself with the latest footwear trends and clinical research and strives to treat patients holistically. She believes a well-rounded approach to manage feet issues should include a combination of orthotic prescription, exercises, shockwave therapy and lifestyle modifications tailored to the individual.   Intrigued by movement and the fluidity of mobility, and a proponent of feet being the foundation of movement, she is both an EBFA certified Barefoot Training Specialist and Bare Workout Instructor. The certifications help her prescribe exercises that target foot strength and proprioception, two factors crucial to preventing common injuries.   Outside of work, Pei Kheng pursues various activities in strength and conditioning, from barbells to kettlebells to yoga, and she seeks to enjoy the outdoors and nature more. Pei Kheng holds her active lifestyle close to her heart and empathises with injured patients struggling to participate in sports or activities. Working with patients to understand their expectations and rehabilitation goals, she strives to achieve them promptly and efficiently and finds fulfilment when patients return to sport at their desired level.

Ong Hao Xu

Hao Xu obtained his Diploma in Physiotherapy from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2018. He started his career in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) for 1.5 years in Musculoskeletal and Cardiopulmonary specialties before completing his Bachelors in Science (Physiotherapy) from Trinity College Dublin in 2020. He is also certified in dry needling. Hao Xu continued his journey in TTSH for another three years where he amassed invaluable experience in treating patients with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and geriatric conditions. He has specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with a sub-specialty in pain management for more than two years since. During his time in the outpatient clinic, he had seen a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and has led exercise classes for conservative and postoperative conditions. In addition, he was a project lead in a novel project regarding telehealth for Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. He is also a certified Clinical Educator for physiotherapy students at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and a certified clinical supervisor in Physiotherapy by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC). Hao Xu has a keen interest in post-operative sports rehab to safely guide athletes on their recovery route. He also believes in a biopsychosocial approach to each individual in their recovery journey.  Outside of work, Hao Xu enjoys a variety of sports such as HIIT, callisthenics, running and swimming. Aside from keeping active, he also has a love for photography and enjoys travelling with his wife.
