A medical pedicure, also known as a medical-grade pedicure or even medi pedi, is a specialised foot care treatment performed by qualified podiatrists in a sterile clinical environment. Customisation: Tailored to address specific foot health concerns such as corns, calluses, fungal nails, and ingrown toenails. How Does a Medical Pedicure Differ From a Regular Pedicure? Understanding the differences between medical and regular pedicures can help you make an informed decision. Medical Pedicure Regular Pedicure Health vs Aesthetics Prioritises treating and preventing foot health problems. Primarily enhances the appearance of feet and nails. Hygiene and Sterilisation Standards Uses autoclaved tools and follows medical-grade sterilisation protocols. May not adhere to the same stringent hygiene standards. Addressing Foot Conditions Treats issues like ingrown toenails, thickened nails, and calluses. Focuses on superficial treatments like nail shaping and painting. If you prioritise your foot health, a medical pedicure is the clear choice. Benefits of a Medical Pedicure Investing in a medical pedicure offers a host of advantages beyond cosmetic appeal. Here are some key benefits: Improves Foot Health Treat conditions like corns, calluses, fungal infections, and ingrown toenails. Prevents complications such as infections. DIABETES FOOT CARE, EDUCATION & MANAGEMENT
糖尿病足管理和护理建议

An elderly individual inspecting their foot, highlighting the importance of diabetic foot screening and podiatry care.

What Is Diabetic Foot Care? Diabetic foot care refers to the prevention, identification, and management of foot problems caused by diabetes. Diabetes can impair circulation and nerve function, making the feet prone to infections, ulcers, and wounds that may lead to severe complications like amputations. Proper foot care and regular monitoring can reduce risks and improve overall health outcomes. Why Is Diabetic Foot Care Important? People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing foot complications, such as nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy), poor blood circulation, and infections. Without proper care, these conditions can progress to ulcers, wounds, and even amputations. Early intervention, education, and regular screening are crucial to preventing complications and improving mobility and quality of life. Common Diabetic Foot Complications Peripheral Neuropathy: Reduced sensation or numbness that increases the risk of unnoticed injuries. Poor Circulation: Limits blood flow to the feet, affecting healing and increasing infection risk. Foot Ulcers: Open wounds prone to infection, which can lead to amputations if untreated. Structural Changes: Bunions, Charcot deformities, and other pressure points that may cause blisters and wounds.   How Often Should You Get Your Feet Checked? It’s recommended to have your feet checked by a podiatrist every 6–12 months. Regular screenings can detect early warning signs of complications, helping prevent serious issues like infections and amputations.  How Can a Podiatrist Help? Podiatrists are trained to monitor, diagnose, and treat diabetes-related foot problems. They can: Conduct diabetic foot screenings to detect early signs of complications. Treat issues like calluses, corns, fungal infections, and ingrown nails. Provide advice on footwear and foot care to reduce pressure and promote comfort. Create personalised management plans to prevent complications.    Diabetic Foot Screening: What to Expect? Sensation Tests: Using tools like monofilaments and tuning forks to check nerve function. Vascular Assessment: Examining foot pulses, skin colour, and blood flow quality. Skin and Nail Health: Identifying conditions like fungal infections, calluses, and wounds. Structural Evaluation: Checking for deformities or pressure areas. Footwear Assessment: Ensuring shoes fit well and prevent unnecessary pressure or injuries.   Why Choose Physio & Sole Clinic? At Physio & Sole Clinic, we prioritise diabetic foot health with expert care and personalised treatment plans. Our podiatrists specialise in diabetes-related foot care, offering comprehensive services from screenings to tailored footwear advice. CORN & CALLUS REMOVAL
老茧/鸡眼去除

A podiatrist treating a patient's foot for corns and calluses, demonstrating professional care and precision.

Physio & Sole Podiatry: Corn & Callus Removal in Singapore Appearing as hard patches of skin, calluses typically form at the tips of toes, between toes, under the big toe or at the ball of the foot. Corns are differentiated from calluses by an inner central ‘core’. Causes, Common Signs & Symptoms Our feet are integral in the performance of our day-to-day activities. They withstand the pressures of movement, footwear constraints as well as our full body weight. Calluses and corns on feet develop as the body’s natural method of protection. However, they can become extremely painful if left untreated. Occasionally, repeated pressure and friction may occur on specific areas of the foot, leading to the formation of corns and calluses. Over-the-counter treatments, such as corn paint or plasters, only treat symptoms and not the problem itself. Furthermore, they often damage healthy skin surrounding the corn with prolonged application. What is the difference between Corns & Calluses? Similarities Thick layers of the skin Caused by repeated pressure or friction at the spot where the corn/callus develops Differences Corn Callus Smaller and deeper Often larger than corns but may vary in size and shape Has a hard centre surrounded by swollen skin How can Our Podiatrist help? Our podiatrist are foot specialists who can help with foot corn and callus removal by gently debriding the hard skin of the callus with sterile instruments and the centre of the corn can be carefully removed. The podiatrist will also recommend ways to relieve pain, isolate the cause and prevent the problem from recurring . The podiatrist will provide footwear advice to prevent corns and callus development. In certain cases, special shoe inserts (orthoses) may be prescribed to reduce excessive weight bearing forces on the feet and provide long-term relief. Frequently Asked Questions on Corns & Callus Removal in Singapore Podiatry Charges Podiatry Consultation $100 – $160 Follow-Up Podiatry Consultation $80 Callosity Treatment $100 – $160 All prices are before GST. PLANTAR WART MANAGEMENT
足底疣摘除术

Close-up of a podiatrist treating plantar warts on a patient's feet, showcasing professional care for feet warts at a Physio & Sole Clinic in Singapore.

Plantar warts, also known as verruca pedis, are small bumps that appear on the soles of the feet. They can grow up to an inch or more, forming clusters and spreading to other parts of the body. They are often pale in colour with grey or brown spots. They can also develop an uneven surface and a cauliflower-like texture over time. Depending on its location, warts can cause great pain especially when weight or pressure is involved. This usually happens with warts growing at the ball of the foot or at the heel.   Causes Warts develop when a contagious virus, Human Papillomavirus, (HPV), invades the skin via cuts or abrasions, growing into small bumps that appear anywhere on the skin. It is often picked up in common shower areas such as at swimming pools or gyms.   How can a Podiatrist help? Podiatry treatment is one of the safest and least painful methods of removing warts. There are different treatments for warts but here at Physio & Sole Clinic, our Podiatrists will: Thoroughly remove and debride the hard skin layers and wart tissue, Apply cryotherapy to freeze the wart Apply high concentration salicylic acid to destroy wart tissue and prevent recurrence. These treatment modalities are targeted to destroy the viral skin cells (warts) without damaging the surrounding healthy skin The application of cryotherapy will be painful, but it is usually bearable. It will feel sore for the first 2 days after treatment, but it will be significantly less painful after. You will still be able to walk and it should not affect your daily activities. As warts are notoriously stubborn to treat and have high recurrence rates, an average of 4-8 sessions of repeated treatment may be required for complete resolution.   How can you prevent it? Wear footwear in communal areas such as public showers, gyms, and poolside. Attend to any wounds on your foot promptly. Seek immediate intervention for skin lesions. Keep your skin hydrated and supple.   Frequently asked questions about Plantar Wart Podiatry Charges Podiatry Consultation $100 – $160 Follow-Up Podiatry Consultations $80 Plantar Wart Treatment $120 – $160 Additional Plantar Wart (Per Wart) $20 – $25 If you’re suffering from bunions, Physio & Sole Clinic offers Plantar Wart management at convenient locations across Singapore. NAIL BRACING
趾甲支架

Close-up of a podiatrist performing nail bracing for ingrown toenails on a patient, showcasing safe and non-surgical toenail treatment in Singapore.

What Is Nail Bracing? Nail bracing is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment designed to correct ingrown or curved toenails. Similar to dental braces, it uses tension to guide the nail into a natural, healthy growth path. Nail bracing is ideal for individuals seeking an effective alternative to surgery, offering relief from pain and preventing recurring ingrown toenails.   How Does Nail Bracing Work? Nail bracing gently reshapes the nail over time to grow outwards, away from the surrounding skin. The process involves: Application of Brace: A specialised brace, such as Onyfix or Curvecorrect, is attached to the nail. Guided Growth: The brace exerts gentle tension to lift the nail edges, relieving pressure on the skin and reducing inflammation. Gradual Correction: As the nail grows, the brace ensures it grows straighter, preventing recurrence of the issue.     What Does Nail Bracing Involve? Consultation: A podiatrist assesses the nail to confirm suitability for bracing. Preparation: Affected nails are trimmed and cleaned with sterilised instruments. Application: Onyfix: A composite material is applied to the widest part of the nail and cured with UV light. Curvecorrect: A thin composite strip is applied to gently lift and straighten the nail. Duration: The brace remains in place for 6–9 months, aligning with the natural nail growth cycle. Follow-Up: Regular monitoring ensures effective progress and adjustment, if necessary.     Benefits of Nail Bracing Completely pain-free and non-invasive Provides fast pain relief, often within 1–2 weeks No needles, surgery, or downtime required Suitable for high-risk patients, including those with diabetes or vascular issues Compatible with daily activities, such as wearing shoes and nail polish Customisable to fit individual nail shapes and sizes Prevents recurrence of ingrown toenails   Why Choose Physio & Sole Clinic? Physio & Sole Podiatry: Ingrown Toenails Ingrown toenails are a common and painful condition of the feet, where the nail grows into the surrounding skin. This issue frequently occurs on the sides or ends of the big toes but can affect other toenails as well. If left untreated, ingrown toenails can lead to infections and pus formation. In Singapore, this condition is particularly common amongst adolescents and young adults. If you experience any of the symptoms below, it is essential to seek timely treatment to relieve pain and prevent complications.   Causes of Ingrown Toenail Improper toenail trimming (cutting too short, too deep, or leaving sharp edges). Wearing tight-fitting shoes or high heels that put pressure on the toes. Prolonged shoe wear, especially in athletes, leading to excessive perspiration. Nail trauma or injury. Fungal infections that cause thickened or curved toenails.   Signs & Symptoms of Ingrown Toenail Sharp pain/tenderness with or without pressure exerted on the corner or side of the nail Redness and swelling around the toe or affected part of nail Pus collection at the region where the nail is ingrowing   How Can Our Podiatrists Help? At Physio & Sole Clinic, our experienced podiatrists provide effective ingrown toenail treatment with minimal discomfort. This ensures immediate pain relief for an ingrown toenail, and we closely monitor nail growth to prevent recurrences. Our podiatric services include: Conservative management: Regular nail trimming and ingrown toenail removal, filing, and applying cotton packing for prevention. Nail bracing with Onyfix: A flexible brace that straightens curved nails, preventing future ingrown toenails. Nail surgery: If conservative measures fail, we offer ingrown toenail surgery to remove the affected part and apply a chemical to stop the offending nail from growing back.   How To Prevent Ingrown Toenails? Avoid wearing tight shoes that press on the toes. Trim nails straight across rather than rounding the edges. Use a file to smooth sharp edges after trimming. PHOTODYNAMIC ANTIFUNGAL LIGHT THERAPY
趾甲真菌/霉菌感染

PACT photodynamic light therapy being applied to a patient's toenail to treat a fungal nail infection. The process uses red light and a photosensitive gel for safe, non-invasive fungal nail removal.

What Is Photodynamic Antifungal Light Therapy? Photodynamic Antifungal Light Therapy (PACT®) is a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment designed to target fungal nail infections effectively. This advanced therapy uses a combination of a photosensitive agent and light to destroy fungal cells without causing harm to surrounding healthy tissue. It is painless, safe, and suitable for individuals of all ages, including those with underlying medical conditions.   How Does Photodynamic Antifungal Light Therapy Work? PACT® Therapy leverages photodynamic reactions to eliminate fungal infections: A blue-dyed photosensitiser gel is applied to the infected nail. The gel binds specifically to fungal cells, making them sensitive to light. A PACT® LED light is directed at the nail, emitting a specific wavelength that activates the gel. This process generates oxygen molecules that break down fungal cell walls, effectively destroying the infection.   What Does Photodynamic Antifungal Light Therapy Involve? A single PACT® session typically includes: Diagnosis: Your podiatrist confirms the fungal infection and ensures the treatment is suitable for you. Preparation: The infected areas of the nail are trimmed and filed using sterilised medical instruments. Gel Application: A photosensitiser gel is applied to the nail and left to absorb for 5–10 minutes. Light Activation: The PACT® LED light is applied to the nail, activating the gel to destroy fungal cells.   Treatment duration depends on the severity of the infection, with sessions typically spread over 3–6 months for effective results.   How Is It Different From Going For a Pedicure? Unlike pedicures, PACT® is a medically supervised procedure performed by trained podiatrists. Sterilised Instruments: Ensures a safe, infection-free treatment environment. Targeted Treatment: Addresses the root cause of the fungal infection rather than just masking symptoms. Long-Term Solutions: Offers preventive measures to reduce recurrence, including topical antifungal treatments and foot care advice.   Why Choose Physio & Sole Clinic? At Physio & Sole Clinic, we specialise in professional fungal nail treatments using advanced PACT® technology. Our experienced podiatrists provide precise diagnoses and effective care, utilising cutting-edge antifungal light therapy for safe and reliable results. Each treatment is tailored to your unique needs, ensuring optimal outcomes, while our comprehensive support includes expert advice on foot hygiene and preventive measures to minimise recurrence. What Is Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD)? Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD) refers to a difference in the lengths of the legs, which can be caused by congenital conditions, injuries, or post-surgical complications. While minor discrepancies are common and may not cause noticeable issues, significant differences can lead to discomfort, mobility challenges, and other health complications. When Does LLD Become an Issue? Mild LLD often goes unnoticed, as the body compensates for the difference. However, when the discrepancy is larger, it can result in: Pain in the lower back, hips, knees, or feet. Muscle tightness or poor balance. Uneven gait or posture. Difficulty standing or walking for prolonged periods.   What Causes LLD? LLD can be caused by a range of factors: Congenital Causes: Present at birth and worsens as the child grows. Developmental Causes: Growth plate injuries or bone disorders affecting limb growth. Post-Traumatic Causes: Improper healing after fractures. Post-Surgical Causes: Outcomes of procedures like joint replacements. Neuromuscular Conditions: Disorders like cerebral palsy or polio. Structural Misalignments: Issues such as scoliosis or flat feet.   How Can a Podiatrist Help LLD? A podiatrist will assess whether LLD is structural or functional and create a personalised treatment plan. This may include: Custom shoe lifts or insoles. Prescribed exercises to address muscle tightness or weakness. Manual therapy to relieve discomfort and improve alignment. Collaboration with physiotherapists for a holistic approach to managing symptoms.   Leg Length Discrepancy Treatment Options Non-Surgical Treatments: Shoe lifts and footwear modifications. Physiotherapy for muscle balance and joint stability. Adaptive devices to support daily activities.   Surgical Treatments: Epiphysiodesis: Slows growth in the longer leg.
