Yiling graduated from the University of Sydney in 2007 with a Bachelor of Applied Science after receiving the SingHealth Scholarship and began her physiotherapy career at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). In 2011, she received a Talent Development Fund scholarship from Singapore Health Services and pursued her Master of Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) at the University of Melbourne, where she was awarded the Ami Gorecha Memorial Postgraduate Prize for the highest-achieving international student. Between 2011 and 2018, Yiling received multiple Star, Gold, and Silver Awards at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards in recognition of her dedication to patient care.
Yiling has over 16 years of experience as a physiotherapist, with 12 years at KKH, where she served as the Assistant Head of the Musculoskeletal Department. She managed inpatient and outpatient teams and treated a wide range of conditions, including cardiopulmonary, neurological and developmental, paediatric, adolescent, adult musculoskeletal, sports injuries, women’s health, and hydrotherapy. She also conducted group classes such as baby massage, osteoporosis management, aquafitness, and antenatal classes.
After leaving KKH, Yiling spent four years in private practice as a Principal Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, focusing on paediatric and adult musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has extensive experience managing acute and post-operative soft-tissue injuries and sports injuries of the upper limb, lower limb, and spine, with a strong clinical interest in knee and ankle conditions.
Yiling speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and conversational Hokkien and Teochew. She believes effective communication and understanding patient goals are the foundation of physiotherapy care. She finds great satisfaction in helping clients recover, regain mobility, and return to their activities through an individualised and tailored approach. Yiling especially enjoys working with children and adolescents, where patience, creativity, and teamwork are key to successful rehabilitation.
Outside of work, Yiling loves spending time with her family and three children, often exploring parks, museums, and family activities around Singapore.
