Teng Yu Yong graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2017 with a Diploma in Physiotherapy and completed his Bachelors of Science (Physiotherapy) from Trinity College of Dublin in 2018.
Yu Yong started his career as a physiotherapist in Sengkang General Hospital where he specialised mainly in treating musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. During his time there, Yu Yong also gained valuable experience by being part of the multidisciplinary team as the appointed team lead of the emergency department on-call physiotherapy team. He is also a certified Clinical Educator for physiotherapy students at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and a certified clinical supervisor in Physiotherapy by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
Yu Yong strongly believes in patient empowerment – he aims to equip patients with the necessary skills and knowledge to help improve their lives and functions. In his work, Yu Yong’s focus is on helping patients with chronic pain by using an evidence-based holistic approach. He emphasises the importance of emotional recovery as much as physical recovery.
Outside of work, Yu Yong enjoys the serenity of gardening, fishkeeping and aquascaping. The calm that these hobbies bring to his days remind him that taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
